October is "10 Minute Rule" Month!

Break up your instruction with the "10 Minute Rule". Most elementary students only have an attention span of about 10 minutes. Students need a clear separator about every 10 minutes during instruction. This month, try to incorporate movement, stop and check for understanding, move to somewhere else in the classroom and have students turn their seats, or engage students in another short activity to break up your instruction.

How did incorporating the "10 Minute Rule" into your instruction work in your classroom? Did students seem more engaged? What strategies do you use to help maintain attention span in your classroom?
